why intelectuall assessmnets and cognitive assessments are not acurate for indigenous people?
Hello every one
I wanted to know and find out why eexactly why intelectuall assessmnets and cognitive assessments are not acurate for indigenous people?
how accurate is the test ? why is it not accurate or acurate?
Just beccause the fail and a standard test does that mean they are dumb/?

Indigenous people have a different knowledge base than non-indigenous people. Take the aboriginals of Australia. Many of them speak four or five languages or dialects of aboriginal languages. They can find their way through the outback or bush (forest) of Australia no matter the temperature or harsh conditions. Yet, there is a problem of illiteracy among the aboriginal peoples in Australia. Does that mean they are not intelligent? No. It simply means they have a different skill set than is required for taking these assessment tests. If they were to test us on our ability to survive in the outback or bush, we would most likely fail horribly because it is not something that we were raised to know.
Assessment tests are based on the knowledge of the majority of the people giving and taking the test. Since indigenous peoples tend to have smaller populations, they are often assessed by the skills the majority of the people in their country have, rather than being assessed on the skills their society is required to have. So the majority assessment leaves the indigenous peoples labeled as under-achievers and low on the intelligence spectrum. It really is unfair to expect them to understand the assessment tests when the tests are not something that is part of their culture.
